Our Testing Methodology — How We Evaluate Ergonomic Equipment

Transparency is the foundation of our credibility. Here is exactly how we work.

Our core principle: independence

We do not receive any payment from brands for our reviews. No free products, no undisclosed sponsored posts, no disguised "editorial partnerships."

Our only revenue source is the Amazon Associates program — commissions on purchases made through our links. These commissions are identical regardless of which product we recommend, and in no way influence our ratings or rankings.

If a product is bad, we say so.

Test duration

Product typeMinimum durationTypical duration
Office chair2 weeks3-4 weeks
Standing desk3 weeks4-6 weeks
Ergonomic accessory1 week2 weeks

We do not publish reviews based on "a few hours of hands-on time." Real problems (progressive discomfort, mechanical noises, support degradation) do not appear until several weeks of daily use.

Our evaluation criteria

Ergonomic chairs

Lumbar support (25%) — Quality of maintaining the natural lumbar curve, adjustability, adaptability.

Adjustability (20%) — Number, precision, and real-world usefulness of adjustment points (height, depth, armrests, recline, headrest).

Long-term comfort (25%) — Evaluation after 6+ hours of continuous use. Pressure on sit bones, seat heat, back fatigue.

Build quality (15%) — Materials, finishes, mechanical stability, manufacturer warranty.

Value for money (15%) — Performance relative to price over 5 years of amortization.

Standing desks

Stability (25%) — Tested with standard load (45 lbs) and declared maximum load. Measurement of residual wobble after 2 seconds.

Motor (20%) — Raise/lower speed, measured noise level (dB), leg synchronization.

Height range (15%) — Effective minimum and maximum heights vs. declared specs.

Ease of use (20%) — Control interface, preset accuracy, assembly difficulty.

Value for money (20%) — Performance relative to price over 7 years of amortization.

Our scoring system

Scores from 1 to 10 are assigned by criterion then aggregated according to the weightings above. The overall score is rounded to one decimal place.

Reading guide:

  • 9.0-10: Exceptional — category benchmark
  • 8.0-8.9: Very good — recommended without reservation in its range
  • 7.0-7.9: Good — some compromises, good value for money
  • 6.0-6.9: Average — notable limitations, but acceptable
  • <6.0: Not recommended — significant problems

Test updates

Products evolve — new versions, defect fixes, supplier changes. We revisit our tests when:

  • A major new version is released
  • We receive significant user feedback contradicting our evaluation
  • The price changes enough to alter the value for money

The last update date is visible at the top of each article.

What we do not do

  • ❌ 30-minute tests presented as full reviews
  • ❌ Inflated scores for the most expensive products (affiliates)
  • ❌ Rankings based on Amazon commission (it is identical for all)
  • ❌ Brand press releases disguised as "reviews"
  • ❌ Comparisons without having tested all the products
